York House & Tivoli Lodge, Dublin
The proposed development at York House and Tivoli Lodge, Dunlaoghaire, Dublin, involves the removal of Tivoli Lodge and all later additions to the rear of York House. They are to be replaced with a two storey contemporary extension to the rear of York House and new build apartment building on the site of Tivoli Lodge.
The front facade of York House will be reinstated, the interior completely refurbished and the building brought back in to residential use. The rear extension will be of a similar scale but of contemporary design that is distinguishable from but complimentary to the existing house and will improve the character of the structure.
Tivoli Lodge is to be replaced with a contemporary, 3-4 storey, brick built apartment block, containing 7 residential units with residents parking, cycle store and bin stores to the rear, accessed from Tivoli Road.
The proposed apartment building will be of similar height to neighbouring buildings, York and Tivoli Parade. The higher portion will be located on the south west to create a legible corner to the junction and address the scale of St Johns Church and the open space around the junction between York Road, Tivoli Road and Mounttown Road.
